Moonstone Meditation

Moonstone has a beautiful gleaming sheen which catches the light. It has an inherently feminine energy which is bourn out by it’s soft lustrous surface which feels like silk to the touch. Although it’s energy is primarily feminine it can be used to balance out the male/female, yin/yang energies of both sexes.

This crystal has always been associated with the Moon and, therefore the cycles of the Moon around the Earth. The Moon brings with it the feminine energies we think of as mysterious, introverted, loving and spiritual. It is one of the most important symbols for women, because, the cycle from full moon to full moon takes 28 days corresponding to the menstrual cycle. Consequently we often refer to the Moon as ‘she’. She certainly has a big effect on all female reproductive cycles. Moonstones connection with the Moon makes it is a very good crystal to use for problems with the female menstrual cycles, balancing the hormones, fertility and childbirth.

The force of the Moon’s gravitational pull is so powerful that it influences all the water on the Earth, and, as our bodies are largely made up of water, it is obvious that it will have a big influence on the way our bodies work. For this reason Moonstones can be used to help to relieve water retention.

Moonstones connection to the hormonal system of the body means it has a healing effect on the Pituitary Gland. This gland controls the Endocrine System which affects the secretion and use of the hormones by the body. The position of the Pituitary Gland in the brain behind the Third Eye Chakra and it’s connection to the flow of light into the eyes means that the energy of Moonstones helps with the development of Clairvoyance and connecting with the sixth sense.

The association with the Moon leads us to connect Moonstones with Goddess Energy. Each phase of the moon is assigned to one of the three stages of woman and, therefore the Triple Goddess. A Triple Goddess encompasses all the stages of woman, the maiden, mother and crone (otherwise known as the Wise Woman). The cycle of life represented by the Triple Goddess is also associated with birth and rebirth thus Moonstones can be used for this purpose. It is also known as the stone of new beginnings. The connection of Moonstone with the energy of the Moon means that it can be used during meditation to find our inner Goddess.

If you would to use the energy of Moonstones to connect with your inner Goddess undertake the following meditation

* Sit quietly in a place where you will be undisturbed for at least 30 minutes..

* Hold your crystal in your left hand

* Centre yourself by taking a deep breath in whilst imagining a bright white light entering the heart centre right in the middle of your chest

* As you breath out feel the white light travelling down your spine pulling everything into allignment

* Begin to focus on your breath as it naturally enters and leaves your body

* Continue to breathe naturally as you feel your tensions and stresses beginning to leave your body

* When you are beginning to feel more relaxed take a deeper breath in, breathing in the energy of the Moonstone in your hand

* Take it down into your lungs

* As you breathe out let go of any remaining tensions and stress you are holding in your body

* Take another deep breath of the Moonstone energy and feel it’s energy flow up into your mind calming your thoughts

* Allow your breathe to fall to it’s natural level as you focus on the Moonstone energy moving through your body

* With each in breath feel more and more Moonstone energy fill your body until it is flowing from the crown of your head to the tips of your fingers and toes

* Feel the energy building in intensity until it spills out through your skin and into your Aura

* Sit in the power of the Moonstone energy

* Allow this energy to connect with the Goddess within

* Feel the Goddess stir as she connects with the crystalline energy

* Feel her awaken and grow within you until you become the Goddess you are

* Sit in the power of the Goddess

* Listen to her wisdom

* When you have received the wisdom of the Goddess

* Start to bring your attention to your physical body

* And once again focus on your breath

* Take a deep breath in and start to become aware of your surroundings

* Wriggle you toes and fingers as you bring your awareness to the here and now

* When you are absolutely ready bring yourself back to full waking consciousness

* Slowly sip a glass of water.
